Black Tea Rinse
You probably have never thought about using the black tea in your pantry on your hair.
Although there has not been research to support the benefits of black tea, some have suggested that the caffeine in the tea blocks the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is responsible for hair shedding and thus helping to retain length.
Black tea can also help with adding shine and color to your hair, especially if you have dark or black hair. The black tea color can temportaily stain the hair black, but usually comes out after a few rinses.
There have been some negatives associated with caffeine in tea, including dry and brittle hair. Caffeine can be associated with causing the hair follicles to shrink in size and thus reduce oil production, which is necessary to keep hair moisturized and less prone to breakage. Many with textured hair already suffer from dry hair, and therefore, if you are going to use a black tea rinse make sure to follow with a deep conditioner to replenish the moisture in your hair.
To use a black tea rinse, it is as simple as preparing a cup of black tea with boiling hot water and a tea bag. Please make sure to let the tea cool before applying it your hair. You do not want to burn yourself.
