What is pH?
PH is a chemistry term for the potential of hydrogen. It describes how acidic or basic a solution is on a scale from 0-14. Acidic solution pH < 7, neutral 7, and basic solution pH > 7. Hair and scalp pH naturally tends to be more acidic between 4-6. Curly textured hair tends to be on the more alkalinic side and acidic shampoos can help improve the health and appearance of natural hair. When helping to balance pH it can reduce hair frizz and tangles, reduce breakage by sealing cuticles, and help the hair appear smoother and glossier with the cuticles sealed.

I personally find that using a combination of shampoos for different purposes on wash day can help to balance your hair needs. It may lengthen the wash day, but well worth it for the impact your wash day has on your overall hair health.
