Aztec Healing Clay Mask

The Aztec clay mask long been hailed by naturals as a “must have”. It contains bentonite clay derived from volcanic ash. The negatively charged particles in the clay (anions) draw out and attract the toxins/buildup in the hair that are positively charged particles (cations). Thus leaving the hair free of harmful junk. Besides the clarifying properties of the mask, it also contains minerals and natural silica that are nourishing and moisturizing to hair. Many have noticed that their curls appear rejuvenated and defined after using the clay mask. The clay mask is not only helpful for the hair, but also the scalp. It claims to remove toxins from the scalp. Similar to when you use a mask on your face, you can use a mask on your scalp to help remove buildup and unclog hair follicles.

When you purchase the mask it comes as a powder. The website recommends adding apple cider vinegar, which helps to balance the scalp pH and acts as a disinfectant (reduce bacteria and fungus) on the scalp.

As with Ayurvedic powders, it can be messy to apply the Aztec clay mask. Would recommend that you use it in the shower to make clean up easier. You will want to make the mask mixture in a bowl prior to starting the application process. You will add enough apple cider vinegar and warm water until you get the consistency you want (usually 1 cup clay, 1 cup water, and ½ cup apple cider vinegar). Then you will section your dry hair and keep it on for 30 minutes before rinsing out. The mask should be followed by a deep conditioner.

I would recommend that you only use the clay mask once per month as it can be quite drying. You should not need to use it more than that. My hope is that you too will see your hair transform after using the clay mask.
