Length Check

Take multiple pictures. Documentation helps you to see the progress your hair is making. It can be easy to get stuck in your head and not see how far you’ve come. Expectations can cloud reality. Many of us want to achieve hair goals overnight and forget that it is a marathon and not a sprint. It takes time to get there, but pictures help to keep you encouraged on the journey so that you can remain committed to a healthy hair routine.

You should remember to take each picture at the same distance with your hair in the same state (curly or straight).  This will provide for a better documentation of your progress as you can make direct comparisons with the photos. You should take a photo every 3 months.

Some people like to have more than just photos, but actual measurements. An easy way to measure your hair length is to use a soft tape measure and take a section of hair. From there, you will place the end of the measuring tape at the root and then extend the tap until you get to the tip.

Measurement shirts are also a fun way to keep track of your hair growth. Each line on the back of the shirt is a demarcation of length.

I want to emphasize that you should not obsess about the length of your hair. It is great to track progress, but your hair journey should be more than just length. You should be learning to care for yourself from the inside out and loving yourself more each day.
